The Wedding Guest

I don't know about you, but my Facebook page is filled with wedding updates. Almost every other post is about someone or the other getting engaged or married. With wedding updates also comes invites, and with invites comes the inevitable question, what do I wear?

Unlike my usual beauty ramblings, I'm sharing an outfit inspiration in this blog post. I bought this beautiful, royal blue, ethnic two piece from Global Desi at Pantaloons for Rs. 6000, back in October. I fell in love with this as soon as I wore it, I loved the way it fit me and how light it was. Usually with ethnic wear, the cloths tend to get really heavy, and your movement restricted, but with this outfit it neither of it. This two piece has a high waisted skirt and a kurta that has a front slit, which I love.

In case you're planning on attending a wedding soon, you can definitely check out lehenga sets like this. It's so easy to walk/twirl around wearing this and will look lovely on any size.

How to Shave | Shaving Tips & Techniques

Hey! Guys, How have you been? I love writing down my thoughts on my blogs and today I wanted to share a few of my shaving tips and techniques. This post will essentially talk about how you can shave your hair and the best practices to keep all your shaving problems at bay. The most asked questions I get are shaving related so I know this blog post will help a lot of people. Let's get started:

Step 1
Hydrate Your Skin: It is very, very important to soak your hair in the shower or bath for 2-3 minutes to soften them before your start shaving. This really prepares the skin and the hair to get shaved very smoothly. We all take bath in warm water, so begin by washing your hair first, this way your body hair gets time to soak up the water and ready for a good shave. You can even exfoliate your skin now to lift the hair up and make it much easier to shave.

Step 2
Lather Up With A Shaving Gel: The next step is to lather up your skin with a protective gel, like the Gillette Satin Care shaving gel. This shaving gel helps keep water in the hair and makes sure that the razor glides easily over your skin, protecting you from potential nicks and cuts. It also helps you keep track of where you're shaved to avoid missing any spots. It's so much fun to slather this gel up, it becomes really creamy and frothy, apply a generous layer all over the area you're going to shave.

Step 3.
Shave In The Right Direction: Use a very light touch and don't press down while you're gliding the razor on your legs or arms. For your legs, shave legs from the ankle upwards. For your underarms, shave from all angles-up, down and sideways. And for the bikini area, shave in the direction of hair growth first (inward) and against for an extra-close shave. This will ensure that you get a very close and neat shave. Make sure that your blades are always new and you are applying the least pressure on the blades while gliding it on your skin.

Step 4.
Moisturize After Shaving: After shaving, it's always important to moisturize as it helps keep your skin hydrated. Makes sure you slather a good, rich, thick, moisturizing lotion as soon as your get out of the shower. Also, apply it every night before you go to sleep if you have really dry skin. You can also apply aloe vera juice on the shaved area to soothe the skin and avoid any irritations.

So that's all for this post, thank you so much for reading, let me know if you have anything else I could answer, leave your comments down below.

Clinique Pop Lip Colour + Primer Review

Clinique has recently launched their new Matte Pop lip Colour + Primer in 24 shades, and I am going to review two shades from the range for you today. These are creamy matte lispticks with a smoothing primer in it. The primer makes the lipstick glide on your lips very smoothly, and keeps it moisturised. The packaging of these lipsticks are STUNNING. It's squared with a shiny, metallic lid and a velvety matte finish lower half that coordinates with the shade of the lipstick. These aren't heavy, but they feel very luxurious on your hand. I absolutely love the packaging, very useful when it comes to storage. Here's what I think of the lipsticks:

These lipsticks feel silicony, glides effortlessly on the lips, and has a velvetty matte finish. It doesn't go opaque in one swipe, you'll have to go over 2-3 times to get the shade to look saturated. They do not apply patchy or cakey at all on the lips nor do they cling to your dry pathces.

They do have a a little bit of sheen to them when you first apply them. The sheen dissapears after few minutes, resulting in a very satiny matte finish. These lispticks are very lightweight, feels like as if you're wearing nothing, and sits very comfortably. They aren't super matte and clingy like liquid lipsticks, these lipsticks actually moisturise the lips and keeps it feeling supple for a long time. These lipsticks are 100% fragrance free and they don't smell weird or chemically.

These aren't transfer proof, so they do leave marks on mugs and clothes, but will not fade away otherwise. You will need to touch up the lipstick when you're out and about.

The Shades:

Blush Pop:
A light, peachy nude. My lips but better colour. Fades me out a little bit, but will look good with a dark smoky eye.

Avant Garde Pop:
A dark brown with a red undertone. It applied much lighter than the  bullet. Looks briickish red on my lips.

These are priced at Rs. 1650 and you can buy them here:

Organic Harvest Masseuscious - Damage Control Cleanser Review

The packaging of the Organic Harvest Masseuscious Damage Control Cleanser instantly caught my attention and I knew that I HAD to review this one for you guys. This cleanser has a very interesting dispensing system. The cleanser comes in a plastic bottle that has a pump attached to a silicon brush, designed to massage and gently exfoliate your skin while cleansing it. The cleanser is made up of all natural ingredients like Acai berry extracts, shea butter, and olive oil. It claims to remove dirt, pollution, and keep the skin well hydrated.

The cleanser comes out as a foam from the brush when you pump the dispenser. The brush is made up of very soft and flexible silicone bristles. Once the foam is out, use the brush head to massage the skin in an upwards and circular motion to cleanse your skin and stimulate blood flow.  It doesn't feel gritty or harsh at all and has a gentle exfoliating effect. Remember to rinse the brush well after using it and replace the cap to protect it from dust. The cleanser feels very light, because it comes out as a foam and cleanses the skin very well. It doesn't remove makeup efficiently, so remove your makeup first, and then use this to deep clean your skin. If you use this on top of makeup, the brush head will turn brown and it can attract a lot of bacteria.

The cleanser doesn't strip the skin after you rinse it out. The shea butter and olive oil in the cleanser help in nourishing your skin and keeps it well balanced. This one would be best suited for normal to oily skin, as it effectively gets rid of excess oil from the skin. I would definitely recommend that you try this product out if you're looking for a new face wash to try. Massaging your face regularly really helps the skin in the long run and keeps it looking youthful. You could also detach the head and use it any other cleanser you have once the product is over or fill up the bottle with half water and half deep cleanser to make the dispenser pump out foam.

This is priced at Rs.1495 for 150ml and you can buy it here

Forest Essentials Tejasvi Facial Ubtan Review

I have always been a big fan of forest essentials products and having tried their Multani Mitti facial Ubtan before and the Narangi Face Mask, I thought of trying the Tejasvi Facial Ubtan and review it for you guys. This facial ubtan is a highly nourishing blend of potent herbs like sandalwood, neem, cinnamon, full cream milk, and saffron for a hydrated smooth skin. You can take half a teaspoon and mix it with Aloe Vera Juice, Rosewater, Milk, or Yogurt to make a creamy paste and use it to wash your face or use it as a  face mask like I did.

As soon as you open the jar, the product smells very pleasantly earthy, mostly like sandalwood.  The product is made up of dehydrated herbs and has a mild gritty texture that exfoliates your skin gently. It helps in smoothing and improving the texture of skin and removing tan. I like to make a paste using rose water and use a brush to apply it all over my face. The mask dries out very quickly on your face, and it soaks all the excess oil up. I massage the face mask on my skin gently while I'm rinsing it away, and once it's washed out you can feel your skin looking visibly clean and feeling nourished. The mask cleanses the skin well, balances the hydration of your skin and keeps it supple.

I would highly recommend this facial ubtan. It will be great for oily/acne prone skin as the ingredients in it like sandalwood, neem, cinnamon, etc work very well in fighting acne and keeping them at bay. You can use this every day as a facial cleanser or 2-3 times a week as a mask.

This is priced at Rs. 875 for 50g and you can buy it here:

Let's Talk About Shaving

I wanted to debunk a couple of shaving myths for you guys. Ever since I have mentioned that I shave my legs I have been getting a lot of questions about it and there are a few things that I wanted you guys to know.

The first myth is that shaving does cause hair to grow back thicker, darker of faster. It is not thicker, only the blunt ends make it seem that way. Once it grows out it takes the shape of your regular hair. It is also not darker as your genetics and DNA determine the colour and growth of your hair and not just shaving. Hair growth is constant for every individual so it isn't faster as well.

The second thing I get asked a lot is does shaving leaves the skin dry and flaky skin? Actually, shaving helps your skin feel smooth by whisking away the top layer of dead skin. You are actually exfoliating your skin, getting rid of the dead skin cells on the top layer and this is why you get a very smooth feel.

The third myth is that shaving causes the skin to darken. It's actually the opposite since it is very exfoliating. Just make sure to use fresh razors, as old ones can cause cuts on your skin resulting in bruises and pigmentation.

Lastly, I've heard people discussing that shaving frequently is bad for the skin. It isn't true. If you have fast-growing, thick hair you may be comfortable shaving every day. Just make sure you're exfoliating your skin on the days after you've shaved and kept it very well moisturized.

That's all for this blog post, let me know if you have any other question in the comments below.

Lakme Enrich Matte Lipstick Review

Hello! How are you doing? I am in this quaint coffee shop, blood rushing with caffeine, and a head full of ideas. I just felt like writing a blog post today, talking to you guys the old fashion way. Not like blog posts are old fashioned, I just haven't been doing it very often lately with YouTube videos taking up most of my time. Anyway, lets get back to on track, I tend to derail my thoughts very much when I am high on coffee. You must talk to Larissa, to find out the things I do when I am high on coffee. See, I derailed again. So, today I wanted to review the new Lakme Enrich Matte Lipsticks. These are the new and revamped, good old Lakme Enrich Lipsticks. Remember the iconic maroon packaged lipstick? Yep, this is the same one, with a matte finish (thank god), and a cuter, clear packaging. There are 20 new shades in this range, and I was very kindly sent 4 shades to try and here's what I think.

These are affordable and you get a really good formula for what you pay. These lipsticks are pigmented, matte and very comfortable on the lips. The colours do not go patchy on the lips, how ever the purple on did go a little patchy and sheer at first, but did get better with the second coat. They kind of smell weird though, if you're a fan of sweet smelling things you'll like it, I don't. The lipstick isn't necessarily long lasting, but it does stain the lips. You will need to touch up when you're out and about.

The colours shown are:

RM13 Buy Here:
This a very warm, deep reddish burgundy shade. Will look wonderful on all Indian Skin tone. It was very hard for me to stop my Mother from taking this because I had to review it. :D

PM11 Buy Here:
A beautiful, bright, fuchsia. A stereotypical pink lipstick, that looks good on anything you wear.

WM10 Buy Here:
This is the purple I was talking about that went up sheer first and then much better when reapplied.

OM11Buy Here:
Omg this burnt orange shade was love at first site. IT IS BEAUTIFUL. Period.

These are priced at Rs. 295. Told you it was affordable. Also, if you're wondering if I got a new tattoo, I didn't. This is my lovely friend Shreeja's hand. I borrowed her hand.

Let me know if you'd like to try this for yourself? I think you should, talk to me in the comments down below.

Dupe for Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick in Rio

You've been asking me for a dupe for the ABH in lipstick in Rio for the longest time and I finally found one. It's the MUA luxe velvet lip lacquer in the shade criminal.

The formula is very similar to the ABH lipstick, pigmented, waterproof, and long lasting. It doesn't apply patchily and dries matte instantly. However, both the lipsticks are very drying and it works best when you apply a good layer of lip balm before wearing either of them.

You can buy it here:

Gillette Satin Care Shaving Gel Review

I have always had this strange fear of shaving. When I first shaved my legs and my hair regrew, I had really itchy legs. I thankfully got rid of that and explained everything I use to prevent that from happening in this video:

I recently picked up the gillette satin shaving gel for sensitive skin and gave it a go a couple of times and I thought I should definitely review this product and let you guys know about it. The satin care shaving gel comes in a sturdy spray can, with 195 grams of product in it. You pump the top of the can to dispense the product and a generous amount of the shaving gel comes out. You expect a creamy white foam, like other shaving gels in a can, but it's actually a thick blue/green gel.

I like to dampen my legs or arms with hot water, usually while I am showering, before applying the thick blue gel, which turns into a thick, creamy foam instantly when I spread it into my wet arm or legs. I take two pumps of the shaving gel for each legs and arms and that's enough to cover them up entirely. The foam is very soft, smooth and silky. I love the texture of it, it's like the perfect whipped cream.

The texture of the shaving gel is PERFECT for shaving. The razor glides in very smoothly, giving you a very neat shave and thus reduces the chances of razor burn. I like to use the Gillette Venus Razor to shave my arms and legs. Once I am done shaving, I just rinse all of it off of my legs and arms, and it rinses of really easily, leaving the skin very clean and soft.

I have really sensitive legs and thats why I decided to pick this one up and oh boy am I impressed?! It is an excelent product. Not only is the texture amazingly soft, it leaves the legs feeling very moisturised. This is very, very important if you have sensitive legs. When you shave your legs, the skin is very fresh afterwards, since you're deeply exfoliating your legs while shaving, which is why it is important to use something hydrating/conditioning to shave with. I would highly recoomend this if you're struggling to find a good product to shave with, if you have dry/sensitive legs. I can't use conditioner because it makes my skin much more sensitive and itchy.

It is important to moisturise after shaving, and one of my favourite creams for that is the Palmer's Cocoa Butter, you can get this here:

The Gillette Satin Care Shaving gel is priced at ₹223 and you can buy it here:

The razor I used is the GilletteVenus Razor:

The Body Shop Drops of Light Review

I recently got to try The Body Shop's Drop of Light range, and I have been using it for three weeks now. The drops of light range has a 5‐in‐1 formula to improve healthy brightness, translucency, even tone, minimise the appearance of pores, while leaving skin feeling smooth and supple. This is for those beauties that need brightening, luminosity, and dark spot correction. The range is infused with Red Algae extract which helps in brightening the skin, and Vitamin C which is a potent antioxidant. This is suitable for sensitive skin types.

The range is on the expensive side, as with the rest of the body shop skin care range and the packaging of this range is sturdy and pretty to look at with the white and rose gold theme. The serum is in a glass bottle, though, so not practical for traveling.

Here's my view on the range :

Drops of Light Pure Clarifying foam wash, INR 1,525 : I've been using this every day, as you can see it already has a dent in it. It is a thick cleanser that lathers up really well into a creamy foam and leaves your skin feeling extremely clean. It can be slightly stripping but leaves the skin nice and fresh. I take a coin size amount onto my hands and lather it up and rinse it well. I use this twice a day, after removing my makeup.

Drops of Light Brightening serum, INR 2,050 : The serum is one of my favorite products from the range. It is lightweight and sinks into the skin really fast. It doesn't leave a greasy layer either. Your skin feels refreshed and hydrated. I take 1-2 drops of the serum and press it all over my face before following to the next step.

Drops of Light Pure Healthy Brightening day cream, INR 2,450 : As I've mentioned on Snapchat before, that moisturizing is a must! The day cream is very moisturizing and the leaves the skin nice and plump. I like to use this before I apply my foundation and you might think that will end up feeling greasy, but when you're done massaging it in, my skin soaks it all up leaving it smooth and supple. My foundation goes on very nicely after this.

Talk to me in the comments down below if you've used this range, and which one is your favourite The body shop skin care range.
