Current Foundations

Although I love my no makeup days, there are days when I just want a perfect base, especially when I'm wearing red/orange lips or there's a lot of redness in my face.

Elizabeth Arden Intervene (Soft Sun Beige 03, Rs. 1130/-)  : You know that feeling when you just want to get home and wash your face, this is what I feel after I wear this foundation. It is medium-full coverage, and according to the packaging, it is supposed to feel light and give soft natural finish that lasts all day, but I just felt it was very heavy, and not build-able at all so didn't achieve that soft look, but it does last all day. I think I got the wrong shade, it looked so good when I was in the store and the SA did my base for me. This was before I watched Lisa Eldridge's How to find the right shade of foundation, so yeah!. I have tried applying it with my fingers, sponge, foundation brush, you name it, but couldn't get it look un-cakey. It deposits into the fine lines, so that anyone looking at you will know that you have something on your face.

Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation (Beige Claire 53, Rs. 1120/- ) : This one makes you look glowy, like you are lit from within. Its medium to full coverage, gives the right amount of glow you need to perk up those dull face days, looks great on camera, it blends so well it looks as if you have nothing on. I use my fingers to dab it on, and I'm really excited for the Real technique brushes to arrive, because I've heard such good reviews of these two together.

Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse (Nude Light 4, Rs. 600/- ) : This is the first ever foundation that I truly fell in love with. Its medium to full coverage, natural-looking, minimizes pores, blends perfectly, and most importantly easy on the pocket. This is the base that I reach out for on my worst skin days, as the longevity of this one is great, doesn't slick of my oily skin at all. I tend to use my fingers for this one too for most days, or else a wet makeup sponge gives a very nice finish.

Oriflame Matte Control Foundation (Porcelain, Rs. 449/- ) : This was my first foundation purchase, so it has a special place in my heart. I didn't try it or anything, just ordered it off the oriflame catalogue, because I liked the look of it and it said "Matte". It is safe to say that this is my least worn foundation, firstly because its old, secondly because I am not porcelain in any way. I did wear it once 2 years back at a diwali party back home in Assam, and my head didn't seem to match my body. If I do a Halloween tutorial someday I would definitely use this to make me a vampire. If you have used this I would love to hear your experience with it.

Rimmel Stay Matte Foundation (Soft Beige Rs. 390/- ) : This one fills the gap between a tinted moisturiser and foundation. Its light to medium coverage, and I bought this one because of how much I loved the stay matte powder for my oily skin, and thought they would be perfect together, but sadly that wasn't the case. It is a very liquid foundation, and doesn't spread that easily, so I end up using a lot. It does make my face look matte to a certain extent, but after sometime that tends to fade with this one, so I wouldn't say it is very long lasting. I am still waiting for it to impress me.

TBS Extra Virgin Minerals Powder Foundation (208 Golden Vanilla, Rs 1795/- ) : This baby is the newest addition to my foundations. I have always wanted to try mineral foundation, and it was on 50% sale, so I grabbed it. It has a very build-able coverage, light to medium, and gives a very natural and polished look. At the very same moment that I bought this, one of my favourite youtubers Estee put up a tutorial on how she uses her mineral foundation, which helped me learn how to apply it properly. I don't own a Kabuki or a mineral foundation brush, so used it with my buffing brush, and still got a very good results, so I'm contemplating whether I should get one or not. This looks even better when its much later in the day, than when you first apply it, which is so rare. I want to try using the RT brush with this one as well.

My favourites of the lot would be the Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse followed by Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation. These two are the most loved and worn foundations.

Which is your favourite? Have you tried any of these foundations?
